Knit Apparel increased by 6.8% to $29,719m,with all categories
gaining in 2003. Most increases were modest, with the largest single
category, sweaters and pullovers, up by only 3.7%. A number of smaller knit
apparel categories showed substantial increase, including track suits, ski
suits, and swim wear which gained 29.1% to $602.5m, and women’s and
girls’ overcoats, up 22.6% to $518.7m. Several smaller knit categories,
such as men’s and boy over coats, included under Other Knit Apparel gained
22.2% to $1,239.7m.
