China Changes
in National Day Holidays Confirmed
The Chinese Cabinet has confirmed it will change the current weeklong
National Holiday.
Currently, China has three designated weeks of national vacation times; but
under the new system, the weeklong May Day Holiday will be replaced by four
one-day holidays, with May Day, itself, becoming a one-day holiday. In
addition, one-day holidays will be observed for Grave Sweeping Day, Dragon
Boat Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival. The total number of national
holidays will be increased by one day to a total of 11.
The government has also announced its policy for personal vacations.
Employees of government agencies and state-owned companies, as well as
private companies, are to be given paid vacations, taken on their own
schedule after one year of service. Employees with 1 to 9 years of
service will be entitled to five paid days off, 10 - 19 years will receive
10 paid vacation days and 20 years or longer will get 15 paid vacation days. |
