Malaysia’s Textile/Apparel Exports  16.6% in October

Malaysia’s textile and apparel exports experienced a rather sizable increase in orders from the August time period forward.  August exports expanded 3.7 percent to RM955.4 million, followed by a 4.5 percent expansion in September, with shipments of RM972.4 million.  October shipments soared 16.6 percent to RM1.002 billion, which has erased the early weakness, with January through November exports now up 1.5 percent to RM8.806 billion.

This export boom had led to a revival in apparel production.  January through September apparel production expanded 7.6 percent to 43.957 million units.
