DEFINITION
OF SMI
SMIs stands for “Small and Medium
Industries”.
SMEs stands for “Small and Medium Enterprises”.
These groupings are decided based on
EITHER
- the number of
people a business employs OR
- on the total
sales or revenue generated by a business in a year.
SMI company is a company with:
- Full-time employees not exceeding 150
- Annual sales turnover of not exceeding RM25
million.
- Incorporated under the Companies Act 1965,

Involved in the manufacturing sector.
SMI Comprises of :

Small scale company
|
|
A company with an annual sales turnover of less than RM 10 million
and not more than 50 employees.
|
|
Medium scale company
|
|
A company with an annual sales turnover between RM 10 million to
RM 25 million and has between 51 to 150 full-time employees.
