Market Development Grant (MDG) 2005

A. Companies Eligible to Apply for MDG

I.         SMEs incorporated under the Companies Act 1965.

II.        Manufacturing Sector – having an annual sales turnover not exceeding RM25 million (based on the latest financial report) OR not more than 150 full-time employees.

III.       Company must be operating in an approved premise. (with business license issued by local authority)

IV.       Priority to activities related to manufacturing under PIA, & participated in ILP.

V.        At least 60% of equity is held by Malaysian.

B. Eligible Activities

The scope of eligible activities for MDG have been extended to include:-

-    Participation in industry Related International Conferences

-    Participation in meetings related to negotiations on Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRAs) by representatives of the Trade and Industry and Professional Services Association

-    Setting up sales promotion office overseas to promote exports of Malaysian products and services

-    Existing Eligible Activities:

i.         Participation in trade mission
ii.       Participation at international trade fairs
iii.      Preparation of promotional items including brochures
iv.     Promotion of brands overseas

C. Maximum Grant

Companies can now obtain a 50% matching grant on the approved cost of the eligible activities subject to a maximum of RM100,000 per company. The RM100,000 grant is however subject to the availability of funds.
